- The results of V-band CCD photometry for 72 low-luminosity radio galaxies from the B2 sample is presented. Most of these galaxies are of early type and their photometric and morphological properties are studied in the paper. We present the resulting surface brightness profiles and isophote parameters' profiles, including ellipticity, position angle, and B4, for 59 galaxies.

- We present the results of an isophotal shape analysis of three samples of galaxies in the Coma cluster. Quantitative morphology, together with structural and photometric parameters, is given for each galaxy. Special emphasis has been placed on the detailed classification of early-type galaxies. The three samples are: i) a sample of 97 early-type galaxies brighter than m_B_=17.00 falling within one degree from the center of the Coma cluster; these galaxies were observed with CCD cameras, mostly in good to excellent resolution conditions; ii) a magnitude complete sample of 107 galaxies of all morphological types down to m_B_=17.00 falling in a circular region of 50arcmin diameter, slightly offcentered to the North-West of the cluster center; the images for this and the next sample come from digitized photographic plates; iii) a complete comparison sample of 26 galaxies of all morphological types down to m_R_=16.05 (or m_B_=~17.5), also in a region of 50arcmin diameter, but centered 2.6degrees West of the cluster center. The reliability of our morphological classifications and structural parameters of galaxies, down to the adopted magnitude limits, is assessed by comparing the results on those galaxies for which we had images taken with different instrumentation and/or seeing conditions, and by comparing our results with similar data from other observers.

- We present the results of an isophotal shape analysis of galaxies in the Coma and Perseus clusters. These data, together with those of two previous papers, provide two complete samples of galaxies with reliable Hubble types in rich clusters: 1) all galaxies brighter than m_b_=16.5 falling within one degree (=2.3Mpc) from the center of the Coma cluster (187 galaxies), 2) all galaxies brighter than m_(Zwicky)=15.7 in a region of 5 deg 3' times 5 deg 27' around the center of the Perseus cluster (139 galaxies). These two complete samples cover 5 orders of magnitude in galaxy density and span areas of 91 and 17Mpc^2^, clustercentric radii up to 2.3 and 6.4Mpc, for Perseus and Coma respectively. They will be used in subsequent papers to study the dependence of galaxy types on cluster environment and as reference samples in comparisons with distant clusters.

- A spherical galaxy with reduced surface brightness, J=B({alpha})/B_e_, obeying the r^1/4^ law, logJ=-3.3307 ({alpha}^1/4^-1), where {alpha} is the reduced radius, {alpha}=r/r_e_ (r_e_ is the effective radius), is deprojected to find the corresponding space density, mass, mean density, force, potential, escape velocity, and potential energy at each point in the galaxy. Numerical tabulations to five significant figures are given for 124 points in the range 10^-6^<=R/r_e_<=260. In addition the projected surface brightness B({alpha}) and integrated luminosity within {alpha} are tabulated for the range 10^-6^<={alpha}=r/r_e_<=260. Conversion factors to cgs units and to M_{sun}_, pc, km/s, L_{sun}_ units are given. Asymptotic expansions for the space density {rho}(s) in the ranges s=<10^-4^ and s>=10^-1^ are derived, and it is demonstrated that the projection of the expansion for s<=10^-1^ is almost indistinguishable from the r^1/4^ law itself, apart from a small excess of luminosity in the central regions. Formulae and numerical tables of the luminosity distribution are given for use in galaxy photometry. Relations between the total galactic mass M_T_, the effective radius r_e_, the velocity dispersion {sigma}_v_, the central density {rho}_c_ and the mass M_N_ and radius R_N_ of the nucleus are derived. Here the "nucleus" is defined as the region within which stars having a velocity equal to the mean velocity dispersion in space, {sigma}_v_.

- We analyse the photometric properties of the early-type Fornax cluster dwarf galaxy population, based on a wide field imaging study of the central cluster area in V and I. We used the instrument/telescope combination IMACS/Magellan at Las Campanas Observatory. We create a fiducial sample of Fornax cluster dwarf ellipticals (dEs) in the following three steps: (1) To verify cluster membership, we measured I-band surface brightness fluctuation (SBF) distances to candidate dEs; (2) We re-assessed morphological classifications for candidate dEs too faint for SBF detection; and (3) We searched for new candidate dEs in the size-luminosity regime close to the resolution limit of previous surveys. (1) We confirm cluster membership for 28 candidate dEs in the range -16.6<M_V_<-10.1mag by means of SBF distances. We find no SBF background galaxy. (2) Of 51 further candidate dEs in the range -13.2<M_V_<-8.6mag, 2/3 are confirmed as probable cluster members by morphological re-assessment, while 1/3 are re-classified as probable background objects. (3) We find 12 new dE candidates in the range -12.3<M_V_<-8.8mag. The surface brightness-magnitude relation defined by the resulting fiducial dE sample shows that Fornax dEs are about 40% larger than Local Group dEs. The Fornax dE sample furthermore defines a colour-magnitude relation that appears slightly shallower than that of Local Group dEs. The early-type dwarf galaxy luminosity function in Fornax has a faint end slope alpha=-1.1+/- 0.1.

- We derive the fundamental plane (FP) relation for a sample of 1430 early-type galaxies (ETGs) in the optical (r band) and the near-infrared (K band), by combining SDSS-DR5 and UKIDSS (UKIRT Infrared Deep Sky Survey, 2007MNRAS.379.1599L), second release data. With such a large, homogeneous data set, we are able to assess the dependence of the FP on the wave band. Our analysis indicates that the FP of luminous early-type galaxies is essentially wave band-independent, with its coefficients increasing at most by 8% from the optical to the NIR. This finding fits well into a consistent picture in which the tilt of the FP is not driven by stellar populations but results from other effects, such as nonhomology. In this framework, the optical and NIR FPs require more massive galaxies to be slightly more metal-rich than less massive ones, and to have highly synchronized ages, with an age variation per decade in mass smaller than a few percent.

- We present near-infrared H-band (1.65{mu}m) surface photometry of 297 galaxies (mostly) in the Coma Supercluster obtained with the Arcetri NICMOS3 camera, ARNICA, mounted on the Gornergrat Infrared Telescope. Magnitudes and diameters within the 21.5mag/arcsec^2^ isophote, concentration indices, and total H magnitudes are derived. Combining these observations with those obtained similarly using the Calar Alto telescopes (Paper I, <J/A+AS/120/489>) we find a strong positive correlation between the near-infrared concentration index and the galaxy H-band luminosity, and we analyze the consequent dependence of near-infrared growth-curves on H-band luminosity. - We present near-infrared H-band (1.65{mu}m) surface photometry of 558 galaxies in the Coma Supercluster and in the Virgo cluster. This data set, obtained with the Arcetri NICMOS3 camera ARNICA mounted on the Gornergrat Infrared Telescope, is aimed at complementing, with observations of mostly early-type objects, our NIR survey of spiral galaxies in these regions, presented in previous papers of this series. Magnitudes at the optical radius, total magnitudes, isophotal radii and light concentration indices are derived. We confirm the existence of a positive correlation between the near-infrared concentration index and the galaxy H-band luminosity
